Anchor Effect - Chapter 13.1: Something's Wrong
In the late afternoon, Yu Xiu and Zhou Quan separated after returning to the mountainside. Zhou Quan finally found an opportunity to come to the mountaintop alone.
Ye Yuchen didn't sleep well during his afternoon nap, feeling a bit lethargic. Zhan Yang came to take him for a walk when he went up the mountain, but he didn't feel like moving much. After sending Zhan Yang away, he and Zhou Quan started to have afternoon tea on the second-floor terrace.
Tea snacks were according to Zhou Quan's taste, and the restaurant had delivered black tea and cheesecake.
Ye Yuchen didn't like sweets very much, holding in his hands the Tie Guan Yin tea that he often drank.
"Why do you look so listless?"
Zhou Quan used a small spoon to scoop up a piece of cake and put it in her mouth, and it was evident that sweets were making her feel happy.
Even though Yu Xiu's crisis had not completely resolved, she had already entered a vacation state.
Ye Yuchen lazily took a sip of tea and said, "I had a nightmare."
In the dream, Yu Xiu took away his phone, and it scared him so much that he broke out in a cold sweat.
Zhou Quan raised her eyebrows mischievously, as if she had seen through Ye Yuchen, and asked, "Yu Xiu?"
Ye Yuchen casually placed his teacup on his lap and replied, "Who else but him?"
"Tsk, tsk," Zhou Quan grabbed a napkin, wiped off the cream from the corner of her mouth, and picked up her cup of black tea, saying, "You two really are like enemies."
Ye Yuchen didn't respond and glanced deliberately in the direction of the mountainside.
He wondered what that annoying brat Yu Xiu was up to right now.
"Is your back feeling any better?" Zhou Quan asked again.
"It's still the same," Ye Yuchen replied, "Not a big deal."
"It's been so many years; your condition shouldn't be getting worse, right?"
"It's hard to say."
"I see you've changed your physical therapist."
"The previous one went back home to get married; this is a new one."
The two of them chatted about recent events while the sun hung slowly in the sky. The sound of waves washing up on the shore could be heard from the distance, and a few white seagulls circled in the sky.
As the tea in their cups gradually diminished, Zhou Quan suddenly put her tea cup down and asked Ye Yuchen absentmindedly, "What are you really looking at?"
Ye Yuchen paused in his tea-drinking, shifted his gaze away from the mountainside, and replied casually, "Wasn't looking at anything."
Zhou Quan turned back to glance down the mountain but didn't see anything unusual. She then looked at Ye Yuchen and asked, "So, Yu Xiu has only booked a room for three days. Does that mean you'll let him leave after those three days?"
"What else can I do?" Ye Yuchen countered.
"Haven't you thought about telling him about what you've done?"
Ye Yuchen furrowed his brow and changed his tone from casual to serious. "Don't meddle in my affairs."
Ye Yuchen knew it very well. When he inexplicably broke up with Yu Xiu, there must be some resentment on Yu Xiu's part. Even if he were to find out that Ye Yuchen had been secretly "protecting" him since their breakup, Yu Xiu would probably just think Ye Yuchen was crazy.
"Cough, I definitely won't meddle," Zhou Quan lowered her gaze and brought the teacup to her lips, only to realize it was empty.
"Don't worry; I understand him," Ye Yuchen picked up the teapot and poured tea for Zhou Quan. "He probably hates me a lot."
As he finished speaking, Ye Yuchen's phone suddenly chimed with a WeChat notification.
He put down the teapot, picked up his phone and looked at it. It was a Yu Xiu.
[Yu Xiu: I’ll be responsible]
The three words without beginning and end made Ye Yuchen a little confused. He read the dialogue in the dialog box again:
[Ye Yuchen: Stinky little brother, you're really annoying]
[Yu Xiu: I’ll be responsible]
Does this conversation make any sense?
Before Ye Yuchen could figure it out, Yu Xiu sent another message.
[Yu Xiu: Can't get it up]
Ye Yuchen slapped his phone on the table and couldn't believe his eyes.
Is this the same Yu Xiu he knows?
