Anchor Effect - Chapter 15.2: I'll be waiting for you
Yu Xiu, who had been quietly eating late-night snacks, suddenly asked, "Do you want to practice acting with me?"
"What are we going to act?" Ye Yuchen put down his chopsticks, a hint of oil stain still on his lips, and asked, "Are we going to act out the script you just read?"
"Yes," Yu Xiu pulled out a tissue and reached his hand towards Ye Yuchen, "Anyway, I have to perform tomorrow."
The tissue suddenly appeared in front of him, and Ye Yuchen instinctively moved back a bit. But when he realized that Yu Xiu just wanted to help him wipe his mouth, he raised his chin slightly and said, "Let's not act, it's too embarrassing."
Yu Xiu wiped away the oil stain and withdrew his hand, saying, "Actors shouldn't be afraid of embarrassment."
Ye Yuchen chuckled and said, "Who was it that didn't let me watch 'Father Loves Me Again' that day?"
"That was different," Yu Xiu said calmly. "It can be awkward to watch, but not when you're acting."
Ye Yuchen took another bite of lobster, and his mouth was full of food. He didn't have a chance to retort when he saw Yu Xiu looking at him seriously and saying, "Are you afraid I'll ridicule your acting?"
"Cough, you..." Ye Yuchen immediately swallowed the food in his mouth. "Who do you think you are?"
In any case, Ye Yuchen was a third-year student majoring in acting and had received professional training. How could he be afraid to act alongside Yu Xiu?
"Then I'm Chen Ping now," Yu Xiu stood up and walked to a relatively spacious area. "I'm about to seek revenge on someone, and you have to stop me."
Ye Yuchen grabbed a tissue, wiped his mouth, and crumpled the tissue, throwing it into the trash can. He said, "Stop me if you can."
This scene only involved a superficial conflict and didn't have complex emotions. In short, it wasn't difficult to act.
Ye Yuchen quickly adjusted his mood. However, he didn't remember the specific lines, so he grabbed Yu Xiu's arm and improvised, saying, "Do you know that acting like this will cost your parents their jobs?"
"Move aside," Yu Xiu instantly got into character, pushing Ye Yuchen away coldly. "You know that place is my bottom line. If they want to destroy me, I won't let them off!"
The elegant lines didn't appear, and Ye Yuchen immediately realized that Yu Xiu was also improvising.
His eyes carried a determination, even though it was a single-page script without context, he managed to make the character more vivid.
Perhaps driven by a competitive spirit, Ye Yuchen became even more engrossed. He imagined that Yu Xiu was about to ruin his future, and a surge of anger welled up within him. He blocked Yu Xiu with his body, saying, "You're in your final year of high school now. Don't you care about your future?"
"I don't care," Yu Xiu pushed Ye Yuchen away and walked forward. "I'll go down with them if I have to."
"Stop right there!" Ye Yuchen was so immersed in the performance that he chased after Yu Xiu and pushed him.
At that moment, Yu Xiu was standing at the end of the bed, and when Ye Yuchen pushed him, he couldn't adjust his footing in time. He instinctively grabbed Ye Yuchen's arm, and they both fell onto the large bed.
"Oops," Ye Yuchen knelt at the edge of the bed, barely breaking character. "Sorry, I used too much force."
Yu Xiu slowly propped himself up with his elbow, a hint of a smile in the corner of his eye. "You're really into it."
Being passionate and immersed in the performance wasn't a bad thing, but Ye Yuchen felt like his competitive spirit had been seen through by Yu Xiu, making him inexplicably embarrassed.
"Isn't this giving you a chance to act with me?" Ye Yuchen returned to the coffee table and resumed eating the late-night snack.
Yu Xiu also sat down next to Ye Yuchen and said, "I can tell that you really love acting."
"I don't," Ye Yuchen said, using his index finger and thumb to show a tiny distance. "If anything, it's just a little."
Yu Xiu smiled again, a pleased curve forming at the corner of his mouth. "That's great."
Ye Yuchen asked in confusion, "What's so great about it?"
"I'm doing the job you love," Yu Xiu replied.
Hearing this, Ye Yuchen put down his chopsticks abruptly, wrapped his arm around Yu Xiu's neck, and pulled him under his arm, pinching his cheek, and said, "You want to show off, don't you?"
Caught off guard, Yu Xiu frowned and said disapprovingly, "Ye Yuchen."
"What Ye Yuchen? Call me 'senior'," Ye Yuchen increased the strength in his grip.
Yu Xiu's hands moved to Ye Yuchen's waist, trying to push him away. But since Ye Yuchen was putting in so much effort, Yu Xiu reluctantly said, "Senior."
"Good boy," Ye Yuchen roughly ruffled Yu Xiu's hair and finally released his neck.
When Yu Xiu sat up straight, his cheeks were slightly red from lack of oxygen.
Ye Yuchen picked up his chopsticks again and said to Yu Xiu, "Let me tell you, you're just slightly ahead of me right now. One day, I'll catch up to you, you know?"
"Oh," Yu Xiu rubbed his neck, and the blush on his face subsided slightly. "I'll be waiting for you."
