Anchor Effect - Chapter 27.2: Responsibility of benefactor

Because only when you care about someone, you would want to seek revenge. By suggesting that Yu Xiu was seeking revenge, Ye Yuchen was essentially implying that Yu Xiu still cared about him.

But what gave him the right to speculate whether Yu Xiu cared or not?

"Never mind," Ye Yuchen sighed. "I was meddling too much."

After saying that, Ye Yuchen returned to his room. He opened his contacts and started thinking about whom to contact to resolve this issue. Just then, there was a "bang bang" sound at the door.

"Open the door," Yu Xiu's voice came through the door, and it seemed he was displeased with Ye Yuchen leaving without permission.

Ye Yuchen didn't want to respond, but he genuinely didn't like the presence of noise in the villa. So he walked to the door, opened it, and asked irritably, "What?"

"Do you think I'm seeking revenge on you?" Yu Xiu asked.

"What else could it be?" Ye Yuchen countered. He genuinely couldn't understand why, after eight years of no contact, Yu Xiu suddenly came to flirt with him.

"Or maybe you can give me a reason," he continued, "why I should support you. Don't tell me it's because you want to get back together."

Bringing up the idea of getting back together, even Ye Yuchen found it absurd.

He knew Yu Xiu too well. When they had a disagreement, Yu Xiu would only be appeased if he personally consoled him. Not to mention that breaking up was already beyond the scope of a mere disagreement. He hadn't even consoled Yu Xiu yet, so how could Yu Xiu just be fine on his own?

If they were really okay, there wouldn't have been eight years of complete silence.

Yu Xiu moved his lips as if he wanted to say something, but then he clenched his jaw, and it took a while before he finally spoke. "I'm just incredibly bored."

"I think you are," Ye Yuchen didn't want to argue further with Yu Xiu and sighed helplessly. "Do as you please; I'll go along with whatever you want. I have something to do right now. We'll have breakfast at 7 o'clock in the dining room."

In Ye Yuchen's imagination, Yu Xiu would surely storm off with a displeased expression.

However, to his surprise, the famous star didn't get angry and simply nodded, saying, "Okay, see you at 7."

Yu Xiu's toiletries were in the villa down the mountain. He took an umbrella from the first floor's entrance and soon disappeared into the drizzling rain.

The umbrella was a bright orange color, and the cold-toned painting suddenly warmed up, making Ye Yuchen look at it for quite a while.

Once Yu Xiu's figure disappeared at the end of the road, Ye Yuchen withdrew his gaze and dialed the number of an old acquaintance.

"Dr. Gong, it's me, Ye Yuchen."

"I know, Little Ye."

Although it wasn't yet 7 o'clock, Ye Yuchen knew that Gong Lin had a habit of morning runs and was likely already awake.

Indeed, the phone call was met with the sound of breathlessness, which gradually subsided. It seemed Gong Lin had switched from running to walking.

"What's wrong?" Gong Lin asked. "Is there a problem with your health?"

"No," Ye Yuchen said. "I need a new physical therapist."

"Switching again?" Gong Lin was somewhat surprised. "Is the new one not willing to continue?"

"Kind of," Ye Yuchen didn't elaborate, but those three words still carried significant implications.

‘Kind of’ — it meant the other party hadn't explicitly said they didn't want to continue, but Ye Yuchen believed they didn't want to.

"Did he bother you?" Gong Lin asked casually, then continued, "You know experienced physical therapists often bring their families along. No one wants to come to the island, and the younger ones can indeed be a bit naive. Maybe you should reconsider—"

"I'm not considering it anymore, Dr. Gong," Ye Yuchen said. "Please, help me find another one."

"Alright," Gong Lin agreed. "You can use this one for now, and I'll find a replacement as soon as possible."

Ye Yuchen didn't mention that he had no intention of continuing to use the current therapist.

Although he relied on physical therapists, he could still manage without one because he had pain medication to rely on.

After hanging up the phone, Ye Yuchen called Zhan Yang into the villa.

Zhan Yang thought that Ye Yuchen's back pain had flared up early in the morning and had prepared to give him therapy. However, Ye Yuchen was just sitting at the dining table, looking at his tablet. He asked, "Have you checked Weibo?"

Zhan Yang stood nearby, his fingers slightly curled, and asked, "No, what's going on, Teacher Ye?"

Ye Yuchen didn't beat around the bush. He raised his eyes from the tablet and calmly said to Zhan Yang, "Someone leaked that Yu Xiu is gay."

"I see," Zhan Yang averted his gaze. "Is it true?"

"What do you think?" Ye Yuchen asked.

"...Me?"

"After you arrived on the island, you signed a confidentiality agreement," Ye Yuchen said, opening a document and placing the tablet on the table for Zhan Yang to see. "You can't disclose my identity or my condition to anyone. Now that you've breached the agreement, I can demand compensation three times your annual salary."

"I-I didn't breach the agreement!" Zhan Yang panicked. "Where did I breach it?"

"Yu Xiu's benefactor is running a villa?" Ye Yuchen raised an eyebrow.

"Does that count as disclosure?" Zhan Yang instinctively defended himself, but as soon as he said it, he realized he had revealed something and quickly changed his statement. "I didn't say that."

Ye Yuchen straightforwardly said, "When Yu Xiu joked that he was financially supported by me, only you and Auntie were present. Are you implying that it wasn't you who said it, but Auntie?"
