Anchor Effect - Chapter 5.1: Annoyingly Handsome
The five-minute speech was nearly a thousand words long. If Ye Yuchen had paid someone to write it for him, there would be no harm in letting Yu Xiu take a look.
However, he had spent almost two hours writing this piece himself. Between the lines, it was brimming with his pride for his alma mater. It was certain that if he read it aloud, Du Rui and the others would mock him, and he would have to lie and claim that someone else had written it for him.
Giving it to Yu Xiu for reference?
Absolutely impossible.
After leaving the dean's office, Ye Yuchen had no interest in playing basketball anymore. Carrying his sports bag, he headed back to the dormitory while taking out his phone to browse the school's online forum.
As expected, the news about Yu Xiu's enrollment had already caused quite a stir. The initial pictures on the first few pages were blurry, obviously taken with a cellphone. But as he scrolled further, it was evident that someone had used a professional camera, capturing Yu Xiu's features with such clarity that even his eyelashes were distinct.
As Ye Yuchen looked at the images, he couldn't help but slow his pace and murmur to himself.
What's going on with this person?
Why is he so irritatingly handsome?
Lost in his phone, Ye Yuchen bumped into two girls at an intersection who were equally distracted.
The two girls looked up and saw Ye Yuchen, and their eyes lit up. Excitedly, they greeted, "Hello, senior!"
In reality, Ye Yuchen didn't know them at all, but many people in the school knew he was a junior in the Performing Arts Department. So, as long as they were younger students, they would call him "senior."
"Hello," Ye Yuchen nodded, slightly increased his distance, and continued walking towards the dormitory.
The two girls also headed in the same direction, chatting as they walked.
"Has Yu Xiu finished his registration? Why can't we find him?"
"He might be over by the dormitory area. Let's go and check."
Hearing this and thinking about the jammed Lin Yin Road from earlier, Ye Yuchen suddenly stopped in his tracks and changed his mind about returning to the dorm.
He really didn't want to see that guy named Yu right now.
With no other plans for this weekend, Ye Yuchen changed his direction and went to the nearby glass-walled rehearsal building.
When the weather was good, the glass facade of the rehearsal building would take on a blue hue, reflecting the clouds. Since there were no classes on the weekend, rehearsal rooms needed to be booked in advance. Compared to the bustling campus paths, the rehearsal building was quieter.
Ye Yuchen arrived at Room 404, a spacious rehearsal room. He hadn't booked it in advance, but being part of the school's "privileged class," he had the access code to this room. As long as no one else was using it, he could come here to pass the time.
Wearing basketball shoes was a bit inconvenient, so Ye Yuchen kicked them aside, propped his right leg up on the windowsill, and began absentmindedly scrolling through Weibo on his phone.
Sure enough, the search term "Yu Xiu's enrollment at the school" had already become a hot topic, even trending on three different lists.
Getting annoyed by what he was seeing, Ye Yuchen put his phone back into his bag.
His training in modern dance since childhood hadn't been neglected due to his application to the Performing Arts Department. After stretching both legs, Ye Yuchen turned around, lifting one leg onto the windowsill.
Just at that moment, a person wearing a black mask entered from outside.
Ye Yuchen's movement to bend backward suddenly paused, and he furrowed his brows.
—It's Yu Xiu again.
Why won't this guy just disappear?
Yu Xiu had roamed around the building for quite some time and didn't know that using the rehearsal room on weekends required a reservation.
He had thought he finally found an open classroom, but when he pushed the door halfway, he realized there was someone inside.
He instinctively wanted to retreat, but the person in the rehearsal room greeted him, "Huh, isn't this the big star."
The person was wearing a sleeveless sports tank top, showing off toned arms. While he had his right leg placed with difficulty on the windowsill, his body was stable as a rock, and his left leg, responsible for supporting him, displayed smooth muscle lines.
"Are you practicing dancing?" Yu Xiu took a couple of steps forward, releasing the door handle.
The rehearsal room door automatically returned to its original position, creating a separation between the inside and outside.
Ye Yuchen couldn't help but find it odd. He really hadn't expected Yu Xiu to initiate a conversation with him.
Clearly, the "big star" comment was meant to be sarcastic. How couldn't Yu Xiu have detected that?
