Anchor Effect - Chapter 10.1: Deliberate troublemaking
Ye Yuchen suddenly remembered.
After they finished shooting the magazine cover, the woman holding onto Yu Xiu, who should be his mother, said to Yu Xiu, "Say goodbye to your big brother."
Yu Xiu then released his mother's hand, took two steps forward to Ye Yuchen, stood on tiptoes to embrace his neck, and kissed his cheek, saying, "Goodbye, pretty big brother."
The adults exchanged more polite words, and Ye Yuchen couldn't remember what they said anymore. He only remembered that the child who kissed him seemed to have a pair of exceptionally clear eyes.
Thinking of this, Ye Yuchen glanced at Yu Xiu's reddened lips from drinking and unconsciously scratched his left cheek with his index finger. He couldn't help but think that Yu Xiu seemed obedient, but why did he still act a bit flirtatious?
Kissing a beautiful sister was understandable, but even kissing a handsome brother, that was really shameless.
"Hey," Ye Yuchen nudged Yu Xiu with his elbow, "Don't call me that in the future."
With the slight nudge, Ye Yuchen didn't exert any force at all, but Yu Xiu staggered in the opposite direction, leaning against the armrest of the sofa and not moving.
"Yu Xiu?" Ye Yuchen leaned over and nudged Yu Xiu's shoulder, but there was no response. Only his long eyelashes fluttered twice before returning to stillness.
Yu Xiu was asleep.
Ye Yuchen felt a bit helpless and amused. How could someone with such low alcohol tolerance drink so boldly?
Moreover, as a public figure, how could he just fall asleep in someone else's house, especially when he wasn't familiar with them? How could someone so thoughtless survive in the entertainment industry?
"Tsk." Ye Yuchen opened another can of beer, glanced at Yu Xiu, and started drinking on his own. "It seems like big brother will have to watch over you from now on."
He didn't know how long he had slept when he was awakened by the sound of his phone ringing.
He groggily furrowed his brow and picked up his phone. It was a call from the resort's operations manager.
"Teacher Ye," it seemed that Zhang Yang had heard the commotion and walked in, drawing back the curtains. "Your therapy session will end in a few minutes."
"Yeah," Ye Yuchen lazily replied and answered the call in his prone position. "Speak."
"Teacher Ye, there's something. I actually didn't want to trouble you with, but," the operations manager hesitated as he spoke. "It's about a guest, and he..."
Ye Yuchen asked calmly, "What happened?"
"A guest has complained about our hygiene," the operations manager said.
It wasn't a major issue, and Ye Yuchen found it somewhat odd. "Can't you handle it?"
The operations manager sounded troubled. "He insists on meeting the resort's owner."
It didn't make sense for someone to directly contact Ye Yuchen just for this.
If any random guest wanted to meet the owner of the villa, and Ye Yuchen had to personally attend to them, then what's the point of having an operations manager?
On the other hand, the operations manager should also know that they should avoid bothering Ye Yuchen unless...
The guest was particularly special.
A certain person's image appeared in his mind, and Ye Yuchen let out a sigh. He asked, "Is it Yu Xiu?"
As soon as the operations manager realized that Ye Yuchen was already prepared for this, he hurriedly replied, "Yes, yes, it's him! You know, if he were to post on social media saying our hygiene is bad, it could have an impact..."
"I understand," Ye Yuchen said calmly. "I'll come down immediately."
There was still some lingering warmth from the therapy pack on his lower back, and usually, Ye Yuchen would take a nap at this time.
He pushed himself up from the massage table, letting the thin blanket slide off him. His wheelchair had been brought over by Zhang Yang, but instead of sitting in it, he walked toward the door.
"Teacher Ye, what happened to Yu Xiu?" Zhang Yang parked the wheelchair against the wall and followed Ye Yuchen.
"He's filing a complaint against us," Ye Yuchen said, with a hint of amusement in his voice.
— Did he really have to make it so obvious that he was making trouble out of nothing?
"Complaint?" Zhang Yang frowned.
"It’s not a problem," Ye Yuchen didn't seem to mind. "I'll handle it."
Riding the shuttle to the row of villas on the mountainside, identical courtyards didn't make Ye Yuchen confused. He walked directly into the one Yu Xiu had reserved.
At this moment, the on-duty staff and the operations manager stood in the living room, both slightly bent over, looking respectful. On the other side, Yu Xiu, sitting on the sofa, was leisurely checking his phone, as if he didn't realize the stress he had caused those two innocent employees.
Ye Yuchen waved his hand at the two of them, signaling them to leave. Once their figures had disappeared entirely through the doorway, he turned his attention to Yu Xiu and calmly asked, "Complaint?"
"There's a woman's hair on my bed," Yu Xiu raised his chin towards the coffee table. Ye Yuchen followed his gaze and saw a tissue on the table with a long black hair on it.
This hair couldn't possibly belong to Yu Xiu, and it was indeed a bit hard to explain.
However, the bedding was changed after every guest checked out, so Ye Yuchen was skeptical about whether this hair had really been on the bed.
"You know there shouldn't be something like this on my bed," Yu Xiu rested his elbow on the sofa's armrest. Even though he was complaining about the resort's cleanliness, he didn't show any signs of anger.
Of course, Ye Yuchen believed that if Yu Xiu wanted to play an angry guest, he would do it flawlessly. The fact that he maintained this relaxed attitude indicated that he couldn't be bothered to act.
"I'll have the bedding replaced for you," Ye Yuchen said.
"Is that all?" Yu Xiu raised an eyebrow, clearly dissatisfied with this solution.
