Anchor Effect - Chapter 19.1: I'm Yu Xiu

Ye Yuchen was momentarily stunned, then quickly realized—Yu Xiu was seeking revenge on him.

Otherwise, he couldn't think of any other reason why Yu Xiu would extend such an invitation to him.

Keeping him, turning it into a romantic relationship, doing everything he had done before, making him fall in love with him again, and then, just like he did back then, cruelly breaking his heart.

Tit for tat.

So, is this what a top star does when they're unemployed?

Even resorting to revenge like this.

"Not interested?" Yu Xiu stepped back slightly, looking at Ye Yuchen and asked.

The ripples of the pool water reflected in his eyes, concealing his deep gaze. He stared directly into Ye Yuchen's eyes, as if he were just an ordinary "applicant."

Ye Yuchen knew he couldn't agree to this because Yu Xiu's trap was too obvious.

If he really believed that the two of them could put aside their past and enter into a romantic relationship, in the end, he would only be played by Yu Xiu.

But on the other hand, Ye Yuchen could also understand Yu Xiu's mindset.

When they broke up initially, Yu Xiu must have been hurt and upset, and now he wanted to strike back. It was only human nature.

And Ye Yuchen happened to be a trained actor. If he could help Yu Xiu act out a play and ease Yu Xiu's resentment, that would be a good deed.

Moreover, as he had just discussed with Yu Xiu, Ye Yuchen's retired life was indeed too boring, and there was no need to reject a bit of excitement in life.

Even if he agreed to Yu Xiu's invitation, there might be a risk of revealing his identity as a screenwriter, but this was his island, his estate, and he was the boss. Everything could be under his control.

As long as he kept himself in check, this could pass the time and had minimal risks. There really wasn't any need to refuse.

And when it came to keeping himself in check, the nearly thirty-year-old Mr. Ye was quite confident. He had grown accustomed to a mundane life and had a calm heart.

Well, setting aside these lofty reasons, looking at the face that matched his aesthetic taste and the mature body that was tempting like a fruit, Ye Yuchen found it difficult to say he wasn't interested.

Of course, when it came to a job interview, if the candidate was accepted too easily, it would only make them think too highly of themselves and underestimate the job - and the boss.

"Sponsorship, is that what you want?" Ye Yuchen leaned back with his hands behind him, creating some distance as he looked at Yu Xiu. "Didn't you just say you couldn't get it up?"

Someone was clearly demanding when he said he’ll take responsibility via WeChat.

Yu Xiu clearly choked for a moment. Ye Yuchen raised his chin slightly and pointed to the area between Yu Xiu's legs, saying, "If you don't have the skills, don't take on this delicate task."

"You're absolutely right," Yu Xiu said calmly, then grabbed Ye Yuchen's hand, as if he really had that intention, and said, "You can judge for yourself if I'm qualified."

Yu Xiu's grip was strong, as if he really intended to go through with it.

Ye Yuchen was startled, and of course, he couldn't actually touch it. He pretended to be calm and steadied his own hand. "Alright, I know you're qualified."

Yu Xiu let go of his grip and turned to sit beside Ye Yuchen, letting out a sigh. "You certainly know."

Suddenly, Ye Yuchen remembered that when he and Yu Xiu decided to switch positions, he had originally wanted to be on top. But Yu Xiu pitifully called him "brother," and he, with a soft heart, became the one on the bottom. Later on, they enjoyed themselves equally each time, and he gradually forgot his original intention. Now, if he really became Yu Xiu's sponsor, he would have the chance to return to his original intention, but his waist... clearly, he couldn't take the top position again. It was truly a great regret in life.

"I heard you received compensation in the billions," Ye Yuchen said. "You're so wealthy, do you still need sponsorship?"

"Even if you're rich, you can still date a sugar daddy," Yu Xiu said calmly. "You just said it yourself, it would be a shame not to have you as a sugar daddy."

It was just a joke Ye Yuchen had made to tease Yu Xiu, but he didn't expect Yu Xiu to turn it around on him.

"You only booked the room for three days, didn't you?" Ye Yuchen changed the subject.

"I have no work, so I can stay as long as I want," Yu Xiu said.

The job interviewer wasn't having an easy time either. Sometimes, even when there were no more questions, the interview had to continue.

Ye Yuchen continued to question this "applicant," "Aren't you afraid of rumors damaging your reputation as a movie star?"

"Ye Yuchen," Yu Xiu turned to look at Ye Yuchen, his tone flat. "I don't want to work anymore. Are you going to support me or not?"

The applicant was getting impatient.

Ye Yuchen had already planned to repay his debt, so he sighed helplessly and said, "I'll support you."

"Good," Yu Xiu said, standing up from the water and putting on a bathrobe. "I'll go change."

It was almost dinner time, and Ye Yuchen also planned to return to the mountains.

He raised one leg, wanting to step out of the bath, but at that moment, a sharp, piercing pain shot through his lower back, causing him to put his leg back into the water.

Ye Yuchen's back pain was like Schrödinger's pain, sometimes it might just be a result of an awkward movement, and it would ache for half a day. Of course, the pain wasn't a big deal; he could endure it, but at this moment, the pain clearly came at an inconvenient time because Ye Yuchen didn't want Yu Xiu to realize that he couldn't even get out of the pool.

"What's wrong with you?" Yu Xiu, wearing a bathrobe, asked, looking at the motionless Ye Yuchen.

Ye Yuchen wanted to make an excuse, saying that he wanted to soak a bit longer, and Yu Xiu could leave first. However, sweat beads had already formed on his forehead, and anyone could tell that he wasn't feeling right.

"I've been soaking for too long, feeling a bit dizzy," Ye Yuchen said.
