Anchor Effect - Chapter 1.2: You still haven't changed at all
It was normal for rich people to meet celebrities by chance, and naturally, they wouldn't make a fuss, not to mention that Yu Xiu was still wearing sunglasses and a mask, with the appearance that strangers should not approach. Although some people looked at him a few more times because of his outstanding figure, they didn't come forward to strike up a conversation.
However, the front desk of the visitor center was still excited.
The young girl had dark skin and was an aborigine on the island. When she checked Yu Xiu in, she kept counting the movies that Yu Xiu had participated in, and she looked forward to more works from him in the future.
What she didn't know was that not long ago, Yu Xiu had encountered an unreasonable disaster and had already been banned. He wondered how she would react when she heard the news.
"You can contact me anytime if you need anything," the little girl said enthusiastically.
"Thank you." Yu Xiu took the room card and turned to leave. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of the drink advertisement that he endorsed on the vending machine next to him.
It seemed that life on the island was indeed slow-paced. All the advertisements in the city had been taken down, but here it seemed to be isolated from the world, and they didn't know what was happening outside.
Perhaps in a few days, there would be staff to replace this poster.
Looking away, Yu Xiu dragged his light suitcase and walked along the road to the villa area.
Walking all the way up, there were many posters on the telephone poles on the street, all of which were Yu Xiu's endorsements. Some endorsements had expired, but the posters had not been withdrawn. Yu Xiu thought idly, maybe he should remind the owner of the villa not to paste these advertisements.
After putting down the suitcase at the villa, Yu Xiu changed into summer clothes. The temperature on the land had risen, and when he set off, he was still dressed in winter.
Dressing for summer in a second immediately gave a holiday atmosphere. Putting on a baseball cap and grabbing a cell phone, Yu Xiu just walked out of the villa and was about to go around the island when his assistant Dong You called.
"Are you there yet?" Dong You asked.
"I am," The afternoon sun was dazzling, Yu Xiu took out the sunglasses from his chest pocket and put them on. "The weather here is fine."
"Forget about the weather." Knowing that Yu Xiu was on vacation, Dong You still had a working tone, "Director Chen heard about you and wanted to give you a hand, why don't you come back and have dinner with him first?"
Yu Xiu paused, didn't answer, and continued walking forward.
"You know Director Chen can still talk in the circle, maybe you were blocked—"
"Uncle Dong," Yu Xiu stood still, bent slightly, and observed the snails on the leaves by the roadside. "I just came here."
When was the last time he saw a snail?
It seemed that this animal had not been seen in a big city for a long time.
"You really don't want your career anymore, do you?" Dong You's voice interrupted Yu Xiu's leisurely mood.
"That’s not it." He stood up straight, still with the same look of reluctance. "But I want to rest first."
"You... forget it." Dong You had never been able to order Yu Xiu and sighed helplessly. "I will deal with Director Chen first. You will come back when you are done."
"Okay."
Hang up the phone and the world becomes clear again.
There was a fork in the road ahead. Walking down the plank road, he could walk to the viewing platform on the mountainside and look at the vast sea. He couldn't see where it would lead him if he went up, but he could see a huge white windmill on the top of the mountain.
Yu Xiu chose to go up.
At the end of the villa area, the gray-white wall was still extending upwards. About a few hundred meters later, there were carvings on the wall, which contained the history of the island.
As his gaze stayed on the wall, Yu Xiu didn't notice a sign on the ground that was blown down by the wind, which read: Private territory, no entry.
After walking for an unknown amount of time, the field of vision suddenly widened, and a huge sculpture of the earth and a three-story building appeared in front of him.
Intermittent voices came from behind the sculpture, Yu Xiu didn't pay attention to it and walked around the sculpture while looking at the place names on it. But at this moment, his footsteps stopped suddenly, and his eyes met a wheelchair-bound man.
Zhan Yang was a little surprised. He didn't push the wheelchair any further and said to the stranger who broke in, "Sir, this is a private property, not open to the public."
As if the other party didn't hear it, he stood motionless, his lips pursed into a straight line.
At this time, Zhan Yang suddenly found that the visitor looked familiar and said in surprise, "You are Yu Xiu?"
——There were posters of this new actor everywhere on the island; it was hard not to recognize him.
Yu Xiu still didn't answer, took off his sunglasses, and said in an irritable tone, "What's the matter with you?"
The question made Zhan Yang confused, but when he followed Yu Xiu's gaze and looked at Ye Yuchen who was sitting in the wheelchair, he immediately understood that Yu Xiu was talking to Ye Yuchen.
"Long time no see. Did you mean the wheelchair?" Ye Yuchen's expression was calm, and he spoke in the most ordinary tone, saying thunderous words, "During a performance abroad, I had a car accident and my lower body was paralyzed."
The air froze instantly, full of suffocation.
Yu Xiu's pupils dilated in an instant, and besides the thunderbolt and disbelief in his eyes, there was also a trace of annoyance and distress—if Ye Yuchen read it correctly.
He still remembered that after the acting class, Ye Yuchen couldn’t properly do a shock expression and asked Yu Xiu to show him a demonstration.
At that time, Yu Xiu's acting skills were also very immature, and the shocked expression was staged, but it was obviously not as real as today, nor did it have so many rich layers.
With a "puchi," Ye Yuchen couldn't help but laugh.
He stood up from the wheelchair, and under Yu Xiu's more shocked and puzzled eyes, he walked in front of Yu Xiu unhurriedly and said in a good mood, "I was lying to you. I'm just too lazy to walk."
The calf exposed outside the shorts was dazzlingly white in the sun, but the muscle lines could be seen faintly. When he said "I'm too lazy to walk", Ye Yuchen's tone was like that of a nobleman who needed eight sedan chairs to go out, overlapping with the figure in Yu Xiu's impression.
"It's been so many years." Yu Xiu's eyes gradually turned cold. "You still haven't changed at all."
Yu Xiu put on his sunglasses and left straight away. Zhan Yang finally found a chance and asked, "Teacher Ye, do you know each other?"
"Yes." The rippling lake gradually calmed down. Ye Yuchen looked at Yu Xiu's departing back. "We're old acquaintances."
